Cyberamu
Story. How it Began!!
It was in the summer of 1999 when I
planned this site.To implement it, I made a home page on
tripod.com by the name http://members.tripod.com/~jollyroggers
.Actually I was planning to make a site so as to upload
the results of all the entrance examinations conducted
by Aligarh Muslim University. But rather than
encouraging me to do so, a staff of our Computer center
(Not to be disclosed) told me that it would be illegal
to publish the results of Entrance examinations without
the permission of the authorities. He even threatened me
with dire consequences if I did so. In the same year,
Internet was in its infancy at Aligarh. If I could have
done it that time, it would have been a great
achievement for me as well as for our Alma Mater.
The following year, i.e., in the year
2000,two websites claimed to publish the results but
they could not cater it successfully. At that time, I
couldn't build up my enthusiasm but due to their failure
I thought 'I must do it'. Then a noble person came my
way, who encouraged me a lot in developing the site. He
was non other than Professor Javed Husain Sb. (Applied
Physics, Engineering College). I owe him a lot. Next, my
friends of Sir Ziauddin Hall, i.e., The Jollyroggers
Team proved to be a very inspiring for me. They were the
friends for whom I made my first website : jollyroggers.
By the mid of 2001 , my website was
uploaded but due to lack of funds, I could not advertise
my site.At that time it was named http://www.jollyroggers.com
. I later felt that if I had designed a portal on
Aligarh Muslim University,it should have been named such
that one could get a direct message that this site has
something within it for A.M.U . One day, all of a
sudden,I got its name as Cyberamu . The next day i got
it registered on a server located in Delhi.
